1 For 2 On Win2K

After following this forum for a couple of months I finally took the plunge and purchased a Sirocco about a week ago. It arrived less than 48 hours after placing my order online ... fantastic! I had been a bit wary after reading numerous reports of issues with Win2k machines, since that is what I am currently running. On the other hand, support seemed excellent so I decided to go for it.

Well, at first try I had no luck with either of my 2 machines (an old Dell desktop and an even older Dell laptop). Solid blue light; no action in the buffer. I then tried cleaning up my systems with utility programs as suggested elswhere in this forum (I used CCleaner and EasyCleaner ... both free). It seemed to do the trick in one case, as the laptop started working with Mr. Sirocco immediately after the maintenance. Unfortunately not so with the desktop ... solid blue light as soon as I hit "connect". I've also tried all the other remedies listed in this forum to no avail.

Well, 1 for 2 is better than nothing. I plan to get a new machine in the near future anyway and look forward to trying out the new Sirocco Media Center Plug-in.

Hi Aaron,

Hi Aaron,

If you can provide an email address I'll send you the requested system info. I have tried connecting both PC's wirelessly and also wired using an ethernet cable ... the laptop always works; the desktop never has. One more thing ... if I configure the Sirocco using the desktop (with the config wizard) the laptop won't work afterwards (gets the solid blue light). Once I re-configure it from the laptop, it works again.

Hi Jimbob, Thanks for the

Hi Jimbob,
Thanks for the feedback. We're still not sure what is causing some of the conflicts on Win2k, but as you saw, often a system/registry cleanup will fix them. I wish I could tell you the root cause so that we could get your desktop working, but we haven't found the common factor yet. If possible, could you list any differences between the laptop and desktop (installed drivers and software, system configuration)? Also, are you connecting wirelessly from both PCs?
