For those that have asked, here is the latest Vista beta driver for the Inferno. It worked great in my tests and all major features are supported. If you have any feedback, please post here in this thread.
A Sirocco beta will be added shortly, followed by Callisto.
Thanks,
Aaron

Hi, The same driver signing
Hi,
The same driver signing restrictions do not apply in XP x64, as far as I know. The Vista drivers on the home page won't work with XP x64, but I will have one in a few days that will work in that OS.
Vista drivers
I"m considering update'n my opertating system to 64 bit xp. Will the recently released vista drivers work? And will I have to use the suggested curve around for digital signing, if it does?
Hey, no problem! Enjoy!

Ah ok, everything is working
Ah ok, everything is working great now! Thanks for all your help Aaron!
Hi Nundaska, The reason
Hi Nundaska,
The reason you're getting stereo for mp3s and certain games, is because they only output stereo. You can use Dolby Pro Logic IIx or DTS Neo:PC, from the Inferno's control panel, to upmix them to 5.1 through your receiver.
Hope this helps,
Aaron
Alright, that amp is working
Alright, that amp is working fine now, it's able to detect DTS and the DD signal from the soundcard.
All my DVD's are working great with this new setup, the only hitch i have are listening to mp3's and playing games. When listening to mp3's on iTunes or windows media player or playing games like C&C 3 or World of Warcraft, i'm only able to get stereo sound. This problem is consistent with both DTS and DD signals.
Is this because these games aren't meant for DD / DTS? Or i've mucked up a setting somewhere?
Ah ok, i was talking to a
Ah ok, i was talking to a guy from future shop and he told me that this technology is integrated to all new amps that support DD and DTS that's why it's not advertised.
I'm gonna give that amp a go now, thx for replying on a sunday!
Hi, Yep, it sounds like your
Hi,
Yep, it sounds like your receiver will be fine. Dolby Digital Live and DTS Interactive are the encoders that the inferno uses- the bitstream formats that they send are Dolby Digital and DTS, respectively. It's a bit confusing.
Anyways, it sounds like it should work ok with your amp.
Sorry i know i'm spamming
Sorry i know i'm spamming but last question, if the above amp i posted isn't good enough can you please recommend one? I'm having trouble finding amps that support this technology, gooogle is only giving me info on what it is but doesn't tell me what amps have Live or Interactive.
Thanks for the help
I have another amp which
I have another amp which supports Dolby Digital EX and also DTS-ES are these good enough or it HAS to be Dolby DIgital Live and DTS interactive?
Oh ok, my amp only lists
Oh ok, my amp only lists Dolby Digital and DTS, neither are live or interactive so I guess it's time for a new reciever I'll post back later if that was the problem which i'm hoping is thanks for the help!
Ah, if you're going optical
Ah, if you're going optical out, that changes everything. You need to enable Dolby Digital Live or DTS Interactive from the SPDIF output to get 5.1 output (and you need a capable receiver on the other end).
Hope this helps,
Aaron
I changed my vista to 2
I changed my vista to 2 channels but when i go into Inferno's control panel, i see the button to change the analog output to 6 speakers (5.1?) but i can't click it. The selection is stuck on 2 speakers.
Also i forgot to add that I'm connected through the optical out and plugged into an amp.
Try setting the audio output
Try setting the audio output to 2 Channels in Vista, and then set the Analog Output in the Inferno's control panel to 5.1. Enable Dolby Pro Logic IIx or DTS Neo:PC if you're listening to stereo music, and you should have 5.1 output.
Hope this helps,
Aaron
Speaker Config
Thx for the tip i was able to insdtall and run the drivers now. But now the problem is i'm only getting sound from front 2 speakers and subwoofer. Center and rear speakers aren't playing.
I've configured my speakers to 5.1 in windows setup, do i need any specific settings done to the control panel that comes with the new drivers?
Thx for the quick responses as always =)
Yes, unfortunately Microsoft
Yes, unfortunately Microsoft has somewhat arbitrarily added these signing requirements to x64. However, there are apparently ways to get around it. As an example, look here
Here's another workaround

Windows Vista 64bit compatibility
I think this beta driver was meant for 32bit versions of vista, because I'm running 64bit and it requires the driver to be digitally signed. So basically this driver suffers from the same problems as the beta drivers from c-media forums released months ago
