COMPONENTS:
Computer with Sondigo Inferno sound card
Playstation 2 with optical output
Logitech Z5500D with optical input
QUESTION:
Is it possible for me to plug a PS2 into the S/PDIF in port of the Inferno, and output the PS2 and my computer itself via the S/PDIF out port to a set of Logitech Z5500D speakers?
Also, how long is the included Toslink cable?

Hi Jacob, Yes, the thing is
Hi Jacob,
Yes, the thing is that the Inferno does not have a DD/DTS decoder (it does have an encoder). This means that you can't mix the computer's audio and another DD/DTS stream. DD and DTS are encoded formats, so it's not as easy as just adding them together.
However, you can definitely use any kind of Toslink optical to coaxial converter to send the Inferno's output to another receiver. The product you linked to looks like it would work fine for this purpose.
Hope this helps,
Aaron
Hey Aaron, The PS2 will be
Hey Aaron,
The PS2 will be outputting DD/DTS. When you say I can't output anything from the PC at the same time, what exactly do you mean? No sound at all? No windows sounds, music etc? Will I have to disable system sounds, as such? Is this an ideal arrangement?
The Logitech receiver accepts a coaxial input, would it be possible for me to output from the Inferno using a coaxial connection? Would the following product be suitable:

Are there cheaper alternatives?

Hi COB, It is possible, but
Hi COB,
It is possible, but there are a few caveats.
First, if you want to mix the computer and PS2 audio, you have to make sure that the PS2 is outputting regular PCM audio, not Dolby Digital or another encoded format. If that's the case, you can hook up the PS2 and treat it like any other input source on the sound card.
If the PS2 is outputting DD or DTS, then you can still pass this signal through to the Inferno's SPDIF out jack, but you can't output anything from the PC at the same time, and you'll have to disable the SPDIF input to get audio output from the PC through the SPDIF out.
Hope this clarifies things,
Aaron

surely somebody knows whether this is possible?
