I'll just jump right in: sometimes it plays flawlessly for hours and sometimes it can't seem to be able to fill the buffer up.
Often times it will just lose the connection with the control application all together (scan turns up empty). When this happens the wireless light on the unit stays on so I think it still has the connection to the router.
I have a D-link Rangebooster wireless router. My computer has a wired connection to the router. The sirocco is the only thing using the wireless side (actually I've disabled the the encryption for this so there my be leeches). The router and sirocco are about 3 meters apart in the same room with a clear line of sight from antenna to antenna. The only other notable thing is that my unit makes a faint buzzing sound so if that's not normal it that might be the problem. During setup the the sirocco is able to see a second wireless network from one of my neighbors.
Finally, you guys should add a search to your forums. I went through a few pages of the forum but I don't have time to go through everything so this may have been covered.
Thanks,

Hi,
This particular model also had a single Ethernet based LAN interface. So most consumers using this as an AP would have had to point the Ethernet..connection towards the Internet. In most cases the LAN interface is a trusted management interface so I believe that would leave it wide open to snmp and telnet attacks from the internet.

More debugging info.
I could not install the software under normal permissions. I tried doing a fresh re-install as a regular user and it didn't work. When I re-installed is as Administrator the behavior is the same.
Do you have a list of driver type files (that might be in the WINNT directory) that the software uses?
When a device is found...where is that info stored? Is it in the registry?
Were you forced to install
Were you forced to install it as an Administrator? ie. would the software work if installed under your normal permissions?
This is strange, and I've never seen Windows permissions affect the Sirocco software.
More info.
No I have not. Closing the Sirocco control panel and re-opening does not help. As far as I can tell the only thing that helps is opening the panel *as administrator.* I have not yet changed any of the permissions on any of the files.
The user account I normally use is an NT "power user" account.
When I installed the software I had to install it as Administrator.
Have you changed the
Have you changed the permissions on your user account at all?
Also, does closing the Sirocco Control Panel and re-opening it help at all in finding the device.

So here's the real problem:
The inability to fill up the buffer when connected was due to network traffic (leeches) on my network. I've started MAC filtering so now *when* I'm connected I'm fine.
The problem is connecting when the connection is momentarily lost. When the connection is lost I can't see it from the software and can't scan for it. The "wireless" light on the unit is ON and I can see (by logging into my router) that it is connected. I can ping it from my computer too.
Resetting the sirocco doesn't help.
Resetting the router does not help.
Rebooting the computer does not help.
But if I log in as Administrator, scan for the device, and connect, everything works again. After I connect as Admin I can log out and log back in as a regular user and I'm able to see the sirocco and use it again. So it sounds like some kind of permissions issue but I can't figure out what.
When it loses the
When it loses the connection, how are you able to restore it? Does resetting (power off/power on) the router help?
Doesn't sound like this is related to the buzzing, especially since it sounds like the unit is usually working fine.
As for search, we actually had a site-wide search for awhile, but found that Google actually works much better. Just include site:sondigo.com in your Google search query.
