OK - I had purchased a competitors product somewhat blindly (Auzentech Xplosion) because it had what I needed - 5.1 sound over a digital connection. Well...I hooked it up to my TV Card (via the 4pin internal connector) in my Home Theater (PC goes to A/V Reciever) with just a stereo minijack - and all sound worked fine.
Was planning on Optical connection - so bought the right cable, and installed optical. Worked great - expect for one maddening thing! There was no audio on my TV Card. Audio of MP3's and DVD's are fine. Apparently you can't use Line-In when using Optical Out. I tried everything. Did what they said on the tech support (with this stupid Karaoke/Stereo Mix/Magic Voice something) - and nothing. It blipped on for 2 seconds once (so it works!) then never again. They could never help me after driver updates and PCI slot swaps.
Anyways - returning the piece of crap. It should just work.
Now - fast forward to today. I purchase the Inferno - thinking it'll be just what I need. I start reading the online manual while waiting for newegg.com - and then it hits me...I find the EXACT SAME driver interface as the Auzentech Card!!!
Can you tell me - will I have the same problems? Can I hook a TV card up to the sound card via the internal 4pin cable, and have the single optical out output sound to my reciever from the tv card?
Thanks!

No worries, In the Inferno's
No worries,
In the Inferno's Mixer, underneath the slider for the Aux In signal is a small Monitoring button. Enabling it means that the Aux In signal is sent to the Inferno's audio output.
Hope that clears it up,
Aaron
What does "monitor" the aux
What does "monitor" the aux in signal mean?
I'm sorry for the stupid questions...
There shouldn't be any
There shouldn't be any problem using the Aux In to feed the Optical output. You just have to monitor the Aux In signal, and then it will appear at the output.
My understanding is that IlluminiX's problem is related to being able to control the volume from the cable box's program, although the Inferno driver's volume controls still work fine.
Well, not really. I'm
Well, not really. I'm waiting for his reply.
I guess I don't understand why it has to be difficult to use an input with an optical output.
That's all.
