So far almost every game I've tried in Vista 64 will not work in 5.1. My goal is to mix all my sounds including game 5.1 into one optical connector so my receiver can decode everything without having to change sources all the time.
These games are known to work with Vista and 5.1 on my Audigy4, but revert to 2 channel audio in their settings whenever I try to select 5.1 with the Callisto:
Counter Strike Source
Battlefield 2
Battlefield 2142
Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory Beta
Interestingly, the Lost Planet DX10 demo worked flawlessly in 5.1, which makes it the only thing I have tried so far that works.
Any fixes at this point? Or ideas when more complete drivers will be available?
Game audio settings?
Have you tried changing the games' audio settings? Make sure you're not trying to use EAX 3 or above, since those are proprietary formats not available on the Callisto. Also note that there is no hardware audio acceleration on the Callisto, so make sure this isn't enabled in the game.
Counter Strike Source and
Counter Strike Source and WolfET Beta do not have options to select hardware or software, but do have options for 2 or 5.1 speakers. When set to 5.1 they immediately revert back to 2 speaker, like the sound device does not suppot 5.1 at all.
Battlefield 2 does have an option for software or hardware mode, but produces only 2 speaker sound either way.
Have you tested any of these popular games in house to see if they work? If so I'd like to know the settings used in Vista and the games.
Have you set the output
Have you set the output format in Vista's Sound control panel to use 5.1 output? If this isn't set explicitly, no program will be able to output 5.1, regardless of the settings in the Callisto's Control Panel.
I haven't personally tried the games mentioned in Vista, but many of our customers use the Callisto for gaming, and haven't had problems getting 5.1 out of the most popular games.

Yes it's explicitly set to 5.1 in the Speaker Setup window. I went back and removed the sound driver then reinstalled it again. No change. The best I'm getting is 2 speaker on virtually all games. The games are all acting as if 5.1 is not a selectable option.
