Just installed Inferno 7.1 on my Windows Vista Ultimate system (on an AMD 3800 system with a ATI Radeon 9800 Pro All-in-One card) and set up my Dell 5650 5.1 speakers (Dell branded version of Altec I think).
This question is probably somewhat not specific to the Inferno card, but I'm hoping for suggestions on the best configuration.
A 3-way wire coming out of the Dell subwoofer has Green, Yellow and Black connectors. I've connected those to a 3 to 1 adapter that came with the Dell speakers - it essentially takes the 3-way wire, Green, Yellow and Black connectors into 1 green connector that I plugged into the Green input of the Inferno card.
I've tried not using the adaptor/connector and plugging the 3 wires directly into the Inferno card but then only the 2 front speakers work (tried plugging into the various card inputs).
It sounds fine but no better than the cheap Audigy card that I replaced. Is there a better way to configure this setup? Seems a shame to not be able to utilize the specific card inputs for each of the speakers (front, rear, center, woofer).
When running the "test" function within the Windows Vista Control Panel Sound utility does not seem to be able to output sound on any but the 2 front speakers (I assume since only the green connector is plugged in on the card?).
I appreciate any suggestions you may have.
Thanks very much!

Hi,
To get the most out of the card, you will definitely want to plug in all three cables. In the Inferno's Control Panel, you'll need to select the correct Audio Input setting (2CH if you're playing stereo music), as well as the correct Output setting (6CH for your case). Also note that by default, stereo music will only come out of two speakers unless you enable upmixing technology like Dolby Pro Logic IIx.
