I downloaded the file, but neither Vista's integrated zip extractor nor 7-Zip recognize it as an archive file and the extraction fails. The file size is reported as 23,004,870 bytes.
I'm installing a new hard drive to replace my old one, so I probably won't get around to downloading the driver again until tomorrow. I'll report in after the holiday on how it goes.
After a full reformat and reinstall of Vista to my new hard drive, extraction of the driver file works fine. Strange how my other archives worked before the reformat and not this one, but all appears to be well now. I'm installing the drivers on Saturday.
Sorry for the earlier confusion. Blame it on Vista (which is a fairly easy and justifiable thing to do in most cases of goofed up computer behavior)! Now if I could just get it to assign drive letters correctly on the new drive, life would be grand...
Installed the new drivers and have been working with them for a few days. Everything seems good, without crackling or other auditory anomalies. I am not a big gamer, though, so I can't comment about that aspect. Music files sound great, and all features seem to work well.

Why aren't these drivers on the Drivers page? It took me forever to find them (who'd think to look in Forums, especially when your Support page points to the Drivers page for "Latest Drivers"?)
These drivers are working great in general. I was having trouble getting S/PDIF passthrough to work on the previous version, but these seem to work great.
The only problem I have at the moment is that Half Life 2: Episode One will not let me select anything other than 2 speaker mode. It appears to succeed, but if I re-enter the audio menu, it is still set to 2 speakers, and there is no audio from the other channels when playing the game. I can't find any report of a similar problem for any type of hardware.
Is anyone using SPDIF in (like with a PS3) and using DD PLII or DTS Neo?
These new drivers seem to have disabled the processing for these 2 as well as the equalizer settings. SPDIF sound coming from my speakers dosen't seem to be processed though the DSP.
Anyone else having this problem?
I might have to go back to the previous version to get this functionality back.

I didn't know it was a problem untill you just menchined it.I've had the card for about 2 months so I had no idea that the DSP had any effects at all on the digital in's & outs.I was disappointed about it.So I thought the EQ & PLII/NEO was for the analogs only. But boy it sure would be great to have at least the EQ effect the digial channels, right now I have a real flat sounding center channel because my receiver's treble only effects the left & right front's.Anyways,I've used every driver out there from Auzentech/bluegears/HT Omega & they all sound the same.Including not having DSP effects for the digital channels.
I also tried all the drivers from other developers that utalize the 8788 chip and their newest ones all got the DSP effects disabled/not working when SPDIF in signal is in question. It is not until I use an older build of the drivers that that functionality is restored. But at the same time I have to deal with the older driver's shortfalls (crackeling, noise, etc).
Currently I am using the newest drivers provided from this forum since the crackeling is more annoying than the lack of DSP effects. I opened another thread since I discovered some intermittent crackeling with SPDIF in signals that Aaron is looking into. Hopefully they can find out whats up.
I'm not 100% sure about this, but the lack of DSP on the SPDIF signals might have something to do with these newer drivers being Vista-compliant as well. The model for
If these DSP effects are important for you, I'd recommend an older driver. Most people don't have the crackling problem with these- there might be other fixes to get rid of those. Try removing any other PCI cards and see if that helps as well.
How come the those DSP effects had to be removed for the drivers to be Vista complant? I would think that if people had Vista Ultimate or Home Premium and they were using it as a media center of some sort, that DD PLII and DTS:Neo would be useful for them if they were using the SPDIF.
A bit of a problem...

Looking forward to being able to check it out!
Interesting... I zipped it
Interesting... I zipped it using XP's native archiving program. I'll test it out and see if I can reproduce.
Thanks,

Hmm, I had no problem unzipping it in Vista and XP. It's possible that your download was corrupted. Try downloading it again.
