Microphone Input Problem?

The volume is so low that no one on teamspeak or ventrilo can even here you.

When I place mic boost on, too much noise happen in the background that it is annoying. I have to place my mouth on my microphone so close that it will be a bit higher..

I just bought my sound card today (came in the mail), and I thought it was my new headphones (SteelSeries 5H Gaming Headset $99) but I tested the headset on my laptop, and I don't need to be yelling or placing the mic upto my mouth, it was like 1.5 inches away. I tested my old headset and still same problem...

What can I do to fix this.

Thanks! And Sondigo doesn't have a Tech Support Number I could reach??

Hi,

Hi,
There is normally not a problem with the Inferno's Mic input. See this comment, where the poster used the same card and programs with no problems... http://www.sondigo.com/node/381.

Make sure all of the recording volumes in Windows (XP or Vista?) are up, as well as the one in Inferno's mixer (XP only).

Hi,

Hi,

Don't get me wrong, that is the main reason why I bought an external sound card, and this one especially cause all of the nice reviews!

But it seems mine is defective, I understand computers pretty well (soft eng grad) and I tried everything I know regarding sound on this machine...

I even recorded how it sound like in a wav format using the Sondigo Inferno sound card:
http://www.m0interactive.com/temp/sondiga-inferno.wav

And I recorded how it sounds like using the on-board ASUS P5K-e SoundMax sound:
http://www.m0interactive.com/temp/on-board.wav

I used the same level of voice and same settings, and the sound level of the onboard is 2-5x louder than the inferno which doesn't make sense. The microphone volume

If I was going to play, the people are not going to crank up their volumes to the max to hear me, they simply can't.

Let me know what I could do!

Thanks!

Hi there, I did something

Hi there,

I did something different now, I disabled on-board sound from my bios, and now the tone of voice is much higher!

So, it might be a hardware error that I am not allowed running two soundcards. The reason why I kept the onboard is for the front case jack, so that I could use it.

But for me to use this sound card, I have to completely disable the on board sound on my mobo (maybe my motherboard problem).

Either way it is fixed now, and my SteelSeries 5H Gaming Headset is long enough to reach the back of the case so no worries

I like the sound, very crisp :) Can't wait to try it out in gaming tomorrow!.

Thanks for your help and sorry for the distractions :p

OK, great! Glad you got it

OK, great! Glad you got it sorted out. Seems strange that a hardware conflict would cause that kind of problem, but that's obviously what it was.
