Vista x86/x64 Drivers

Hello Aaron,

Any word from C-Media regarding the release date of a fully working driver set for the C-Media 8788 Oxygen chipset which is used in the Sondigo Inferno?

I have not had any success in getting any of the DSP effects to work in Vista Ultimate 64-bit. S/PDIF out is working, but it only outputs the sound in linear PCM; DDL and DTS are not working.

I do appreciate your help on the forums here in trying to resolve my problems, but I've tried several different beta drivers without any luck.

C-Media is very tight lipped and not forthcoming with any information regarding any future driver support for the Oxygen chipset. I also the people who have bought Oxygen chipset based cards are very angry with C-Media. A visit to C-Media's forums reveals lots of posts about drivers with no official response from C-Media.

This is very frustrating for me as well as many other owners of the Inferno (and other Oxygen chipset based cards) as we have sound cards which are not giving us any advantages over onboard sound.

I did inquire earlier in the week about updated drivers, but there are no newer 8788 drivers available.

Since you are running Vista x64, how did you install the Inferno driver? As you probably know, Vista x64 requires drivers to be signed for them to be installed and work correctly. It's possible that this requirement is what's causing problems with the driver's DSP. You can bypass the signing requirements by hitting F8 during the computer boot process and making the appropriate selection in the list of options.

Beta Driver Support

Hi Aaron,

I've recently installed the Inferno card in a HTPC with Vista 32 and ever time I boot I have to go into the Oxygen App. and toggle settings to get the card to distribute the sound to the apporpriate speakers. I ususaly just need to set the frequence to something different then change it back then it works. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Keith, That's strange-

Hi Keith,
That's strange- seems like the system is not retaining your settings after booting. Try the following:

1) uninstall the Inferno driver you're using, and reboot
2) run a registry cleaner (CCleaner is good, and free)
3) re-install the driver
