New firmware does not work with D-Link DI-524

Running Windows Vista with a DLink DI-524 wireless router. Upgraded to the new 1.0.3 firmware and new drivers. Crash. Rolled back the firmware to 1.0.0 and everything works fine.

I'm really not sure... have you tried WEP encryption as well? The security is definitely not bulletproof, but it's still better than nothing.

Also, make sure that you are re-running through the Sirocco setup wizard each time you make encryption changes on the router.

Hello - I have updated my router with the latest firmware (2.04 for rev B2). no result. I have also tried with WPA2. no result. This is insane. The router actually sees the sondigo as logged on the network, whose wireless green led is lit. But impossible to scan wirelessly the sondigo from both machine where it is installed, one unders xp, the other under vista. This is driving me crazy - please help !!

Hi jcduke, Sorry, I was

Hi jcduke,

Sorry, I was getting the wrt54g and the wmb54g mixed up (bloody Linksys product naming conventions). Anyways, my point remains: there may be a firmware update available for your router (the DI-524), that resolves the conflict.

Check out http://www.dlink.com/products/support.asp?pid=316

Another thing to look into is that the DI-524 may also support WPA2, which is an even more secure encryption standard. If it does, you might try using it on your network instead of WPA, as the Sirocco also supports it.

DI-524

Hello, thanks for replying. My issue is not to use the wmb 54g with the Sirocco. I bought the sirocco because I could not get the wmb to work wirelessly, and I heard the sirocco was more reliable. But now I have received the sirocco and I have exactly the same problem : if I turn the encryption / security off on my D-link Di-524 router, it works wirelessly, but when I the network is protected with WPA - PSK encryption is activated, the Sirocco does not work (the software does not see the Sirocco when scanning).
I have two laptops : one with XP, one with vista. I tried the original CD installation software on the XP one, and it did not work. Then I flashed the firmware to 2.1.0. and installed the corresponding software on the vista machine. Installation worked, still the soft can't see the Sirocco. In all cases the wireless green led on the Sirocco is fixed green.
Are you saying I should install the 2.0 soft on the XP laptop too ?

thanks for helping - this is really going on my nerves !

best

Hi jcduke,

Hi jcduke,

Have you tried updating the firmware on your router(s)? I use the wmb54g with the Sirocco with no problems, although there are many different hardware revs of that product, so that statement can be deceptive.

If the router firmware upgrade doesn't help, you might try the 2.0 software package as well.

problem with router D-link Di-524 - impossible to go wireless

Hello,

I am really getting mad and need your help. I have been purchasing a linksys wmb 54G, and now your very own sondigo audio bridge, hoping it would solve my problem, but it does not. in both cases I can't get them to work wirelessly. It only works if I get rid of any security on my home wireless network. When I use wpa/psk protection, it just does not work - the software does not see the sondigo when scanning. I have checked that the key was correctly input again and again, my other wi-fi gear does connect without a glitch. I obvioulsly can't let my network without encryption, so this is getting REALLY frustrating.
do you think flashing the 1.0.0. firmware and using the 1.0. software could help ? If so, please let me know where to find them, I don't see them on the site. I use XP on one computer and Vista on another one. I have flashed the last vista compatible firmware and installed the corresponding soft on my Vista machine, but problem is exactly the same on both machines.
PLEASE HELP !!!

Best,

jcduke

I recommend sticking with

I recommend sticking with 1.0.0 for now. There are no features that require 1.0.3, and some other people are having problems with 1.0.3 as well.
