Hi...
as it takes 2 weeks testing and trying to get an usefull sirocco I will tell about it.
1.
The sirocco is a nice hardware and seemd to be restricted by some limitation of the drivers.
As told in another discussion the sirocco will omly run when starting the drivers / application as admin. For security thats not good so I made an admin account with restriction access to some other folders and a button in the middle of the screen with an link to a fast logout routine.
On my WinXPPro the following runs.
Create a new shortcut and point it here:
%windir%\System32\SHUTDOWN.exe -l -t 120 -c "Windows will Log Off in 2
minutes. Close any open programs."
or you can use the Logoff screensaver from microsoft but it runs only in front not if you made a fast userchange and the admin login stays in background.

2.
In my test I tryed the newer sirocco software and this makes me installing the new firmware.
Done so I recogniced that the system runs slower (or it was to late in the night) for me.
I mannaged to reflash the original driver but after doing so I nearly got an heart-attack. Running the configuration software I now was looking onto a LOGIN screen asking me for NAME: and PASSWORD!
What was that ?
In the downloadside I got http://www.sondigo.com/productsupport/downloads/sirocco/siroccofirmware_...
Was it not exactly the same firmware the sirocco comes with.?
Why is no hint at sondigo sirocco downloadside for the changed defaulconfig of the AccesPoint?
As I have seen before the Sirocco Sondigo has a nottold AccesPoint which could be configured under login to http://192.168.1.254
at my system. Doing so I could change the configuration and made this as the AP has an open door with no password protected login.
Look at:
http://www.google.de/search?hl=de&q=sondigo+sirocco+accespoint&btnG=Goog...
http://www.smallnetbuilder.com/content/view/29536/71/1/4/
So what did Sondigo do with my downloaded firmware?
Sondigo closed the open door and that is not bad but...
bad ist the missing information that Sondigo seemd to use the easyconfig option of the Sirocco with an login name.
REMEMBER:
It's early in the morning - I made a reflash of the firmware - I look onto an Login Screen during the device configuration.
As I read all I found about Sirocco I rememberd that in one forum an hour ago I have seen a password.
The login is:
User: super
Pass: (leave blank)
from http://www.sondigo.com/node/231
Using the username 'super' I could enter the setup wizzard and the sirocco runs again.
But now I have the next problem.
Changing in future to VISTA shall drop me to install the newest firmware but how shall I do it?
I got no login to the sirocco to flash the firmware.
As shown in http://www.sondigo.com/node/231 the problem is not solved and the answer from sondigo is missing.
Greetings

A couple points:
- Part of the Sirocco's setup procedure is the running of the Setup Wizard. Doing so allows you to disable the access point (choose "join an existing network"). This means that if the Sirocco is configured properly, there is no security hole at all. Even if it's not configured correctly, this being a security hole is debatable.
- If you move to Vista, just use the Sirocco Setup Wizard to upgrade the firmware.
