Hi,
I have been using the Callisto for 4 months now. I bought the product mainly for 5.1 gaming, and a little DVD viewing. I run XP Sp2. I really like the Callisto, and it has been very reliable so far in games like Bioshock, Half Life 2, etc., except Crysis.
With the older 2006-04-28 drivers, the sound in Crysis (patched to latest version) would stutter unstopedly after 15 mins or so of gaming, even when I quit my game to the main menu. I had to restart the game, and was ok for another 15 minutes. Since it was getting annoying, I found out there were new beta drivers. I uninstalled the older ones, ran Ccleaner, installed the new beta ones and everything still works fine in my other games, except Crysis where I CAN NOT hear sound anymore, even in the opening menu. I tried all output methods (DDL, DTS, PCM) without success.
I switched back to my onboard Sigmatel soundcard and the sound in Crysis is fine, no stuttering issue, except that I really miss Callisto's 5.1 sound positioning.
Do you have a clue ?
Thanks in advance.

Hi Savat,
I'm not sure which audio settings are provided in Crysis, but have you tried lowering the EAX and/or Audio Detail settings in the game?

Hi Aaron, thanks for replying. I've been doing some research and found out Crysis doesn't make use of EAX. Here's a quote from incrysis.com (I have read similar stuff elsewhere)
"But sadly, no Cryengine 2 uses an OpenGL extension called Fmod for it's sound calculations, which precludes EAX support.
Still, it probably has most of the effects that EAX does, and sounds very good anyways."
Do you have any other clue ? I tried with custom tweaking lowering the number of audio channels, changing the sample rate and such but still no audio. Like I said, I can't even hear the audio in the opening adds before the game starts, neither in the welcome screen menu. I would assume the audio engine for those part is pretty basic.

Hmm, lots of other games use fmod as well, but I'm not aware of there being the same problem with the Callisto. Frankly, this has me stumped. Has anyone else had experience with the Callisto and Crysis?
