Buffer Issues

Hello,

I've recently purchased a sirocco and am having buffering problems.

The sirocco plays audio, but drops out about every 5 minutes, for the length of the buffer time setting. It seems that the buffer slowly decreases from 100% to 0% over the 5 minute time frame, and then drops out to refresh the buffer, which then slowly empties.

I've tried many of the suggestions on this forum, without success, i.e. changed wireless channel, changed to g only, upgrade router firmware, adjusted buffer time setting.

Windows XP Home Edition, SP2

Linksys, WRT54G, latest firmware

Sirocco firmware is 1.10.0.10

Any other suggestions?

Chad

Hi Chad, You might find that

Hi Chad,
You might find that the newest Sirocco drivers (2.1 and 2.6) and firmware (1.00) provide more solid streaming with your router.

You can read about and download them at www.sondigo.com/sirocco/updateguide

I tried that and ...

It's a bit better, but still the same with both drivers 2.1 and 2.6 with the 1.0 firmware.

The buffer slowly decreases, when it reaches zero it drops out while it reloads to 100%.

Any other ideas? This is a bit more work than I expected.

Hi Chad, We might be able to

Hi Chad,
We might be able to fix this by tweaking the wireless settings on your router. Which router are you using, and how do you have the wireless network set up?

Wireless

It is a Linksys WRT54G, using WEP, set as G only.

That sounds pretty good,

That sounds pretty good, although you might want to try a different wireless channel to see if that helps.

There is also a newer driver and firmware version coming (2.7), assuming they hold up in testing. Should be released in a few days.
