Closing Sirocco configuration window with OK button causes problems

This is not a major problem, but perhaps it will help you also in solving some problems reported in the forum related to this one.

I have configured that the Wi-Sonic Wireless Audio Center window automatically pops up when the Sirocco is connected. When this window is closed by pressing the OK button I end up with 2 problems:
1.
When trying to reopen the window via the tray icon, the window appears only minimized on the Taskbar. The small window above it shows blank. After some time-out the minimized window disappears. Trying to open once more gives the same result.
2.
To recover from this situation I restart my notebook. When the Wi-Sonic Wireless Audio Center window reappears and I check to which device audio is redirected after disconnecting, the setting is changed to another audio device that is never used. When reproducing the error it is always the same audio device. At the same time when checking in Control Panel the default audio device is the Sondigo. Perhaps this is OK, because you are changing the default setting. However there is no audio via the Sondigo. To recover from problem 2 I have to change both the setting in the Wi-Sonic window and in the Control Panel to the correct default audio device, i.e. my internal speakers/headphone and then restart my notebook for the second time.

By the way, the same problems, 1 and 2, occur when the Sondigo is disconnected, so no window pops up, and I try to open the window from the tray icon.

After the second restart everything works well again including the automatic switching between Sondigo and the internal speakers/headphone. I do not press the OK button anymore to get rid of the window, but just minimize the window to prevent problems.

Software:
- Sondigo v2.6 Beta including driver and firmware update

Environment:
HP Pavillon 9055dv notebook with Vista Premium edition. There are 5 audio devices.
- Headset Earphone (Bluetooth Hands-free Audio)
- Speakers (C-Media Wi-Sonic Wireless Audio Device)
- Digital Output(C-Media Wi-Sonic Wireless Audio Device)
- Internal Speaker/Headphones (Conexant High Definition Audio) DEFAULT
- SPDIF Interface (Conexant High Definition Audio) DEFAULT AFTER ERROR

I hope this helps you in improving the product.

Do you have the same problem

Do you have the same problem when opening the Sirocco control panel through the Windows Control Panel? Or is this problem only present when using the system tray icon?

Test results

Hello Aaron,

Starting from Control Panel, as requested by you, works OK, like the automatic start-up, but there is one difference. The default setting of the audio device, the system has to redirect to after disconnecting, is changed. This is the same as the second problem that I reported to you before and again it is the same wrong audio device.

Some additional observations:
- Changing the default setting in the C-Media window has no effect until you also change the default setting in Control Panel.
- After successful redirection (Sirocco disconnected and internal speakers playing) the Sound window in Control Panel shows 2 active audio devices, the Sirocco and the internal speakers. Active in the sense that both devices show the green volume bar at the right side of the window going up and down. This is only after redirection. After connecting the Sirocco again only one active device, the Sirocco, is shown.
- When the 2 audio devices are active as explained in the previous point, the internal speakers show on the screen a considerable lower volume level than the Sirocco. Also listening gives the impression that the real volume level is considerable lower than normal.
- Pressing OK in the Sirocco panel does not generate a problem by itself. After it you can restart the Sirocco control panel from the Windows Control Panel again.

Hope this helps you.

Regards,
Rob

Hi Rob, The two devices are

Hi Rob,
The two devices are active because the "dynamic switching" is only possible by sending the audio through the Sirocco driver to the other audio driver. This shouldn't lower the volume on the second device, however. What is your output mode on the Sirocco (2ch, 6ch, DDL, etc)?

Output mode on the Sirocco

Hi Aaron,

The output mode on the Sirocco is 2-channel.

Hmm, ok, 2-channel mode

Hmm, ok, 2-channel mode should be fine. Have you tried any other driver versions? 2.1 has seen a lot more test coverage than 2.6, so perhaps that would help? There's also a newer 2.7 version (check the thread at http://www.sondigo.com/node/559), so you might try that as well.
