SPDIF IN problems with Dish Network

I connected the my Dish Network HD digital receiver to the SPDIF IN on the Inferno sound card, the regular standard definition channels sound great, but when i change it to a HD channel their is a loud crackling sound coming from the speakers. Is their a way for the sound to come out on the HD channels.

It depends, do you know what format the audio is when coming from the HD channels? If it is encoded (Dolby Digital, DTS), please be aware that the Inferno can not decode these formats (it can only encode them).

I found out the sound is broadcast in Dolby Digital, so I guess I am screwed. Thanks for the reply though.

Your not screwed,you have 2 options.Either pass the 5.1 signal to an external decoder or change your Dish Network's audio settings to send 5.1 as 2 channels then use PLIIx on the soundcard.Think Xbox 360.
