My audio setup using the inferno was working perfectly fine for the last 8 months or so. Suddenly 2 days ago, there's NO output at all from the analog.. which is what I use primarily. I tried to reinsert all the jacks and tried the sound tests from the inferno software, but nothing would come out. I changed the output to digital and everything works. Any ideas or suggestions? Thanks.

Does Optical Still Work?
Has anyone tested the optical output on their Inferno with dead analog?
I'm trying to determine what my next purchase should be, perhaps a receiver instead of a new sound card.
Same
My analog output just died too. I guess I'll be using onboard sound until Christmas, when I will get a card from Creative Labs, since I've never had a card that died from them. Oh well.
This card was always fishy with Vista anyway.
Glad to hear others are having this problem....
Running Vista 32 and recently discovered all analog ports are not working. Tried installing a wide variety of drivers to no avail. Digital out is working fine. Anybody find a solution yet? Excited to try my Sennheisers off the sound card :/
poor inferno
I nearly cried when I had to plug into my motherboard's integrated audio - it sounds so bad.
Aaron, you may claim that the failure rates are low, but given how many people have posted here, I have little doubt that all Inferno analog outputs will die in the near future. I forever will be slightly more suspicious about buying domestic.
I had the same problem,
I had the same problem, resoldering the ld1117 fixed it for ~1-2 weeks, if the computer is on 24/7 the problem appears again
Analog Dead
Having the same issue. Nothing works off of the analog port, but looks from the Oxygen audio config that the drivers are working fine. I can use the digital outs to my stereo still just fine...
Hi Mr X, I seem to recall
Hi Mr X,
I seem to recall someone being able to use their digital outputs after their analog outs died, but I can't find anything on it.
I'd be interested to hear what you find if you take your multimeter to it.
My Inferno recently did the
My Inferno recently did the same thing, tried everything suggested above and in an alternate computer, the analog outputs do not work anymore. I was using my computer when it died, center/sub went first then fronts then rears, it was very odd. If what I'm reading above is right and the inferno only has a one year warranty then my one is well and truely out.
I have a feeling it may be the op-amps that have died but I have nothing to support that theory. At some point I'll put the card in an old computer and pull out my multimeter to see.
[edit]
Has anyone with this problem checked if the digital outputs still work? I didn't check that when I was testing.
Hi Dup, I'm sorry to hear
Hi Dup,
I'm sorry to hear that. Our defect rates with the Inferno have been pretty low, but unfortunately, as with any complex electronic product, it still does happen.
I just have the same problem
I just came back from lunch and my sound was not working anymore, tried my 2 OS(Dualboot XP and Vista), none is working so it's not the driver. I also tried different speaker, same thing. I swapped to my old soundcard and everything work so it's not the PCI port.
I will test the card on my old AMD and give you news, but I think it's really the card who died, too bad just 3 months after the 1 year warranty, I don't think I will buy Sondigo again!
Edit: Just tested on my AMD, I confirm it's DEAD!
Things I'd recommend: -
Things I'd recommend:
- uninstall and re-install the Inferno driver
- double-check the settings in the Windows Sound control panel, to ensure that the Inferno is the default audio device.
- try several different audio programs
- open the Inferno Control panel's mixer tab, and make sure the volume is up and the mute button is not selected.
My analog is dead too.
I have the same problem and I know 100% my speakers are working because I turned on my onboard-soundcard and it does produce sound. What else could I try or is the Inferno dead?
First thing to try is
First thing to try is different speakers or headphones in the analog jack(s). Also try using different software to test, in case your audio software is overriding the audio output destination.
hey aaron.. thanks for the
hey aaron.. thanks for the reply. no i'm not using vista.. just winxp. everything was working perfect before - i did not change the configuration. are there are any suggestions you may have for me to isolate where the problem is?
Are you on Vista? If so, you
Are you on Vista? If so, you might want to check the Sound settings in the Windows Control Panel. The output "device" might have been switched inadvertently; there are two (analog and digital) Inferno devices that show up in this control panel under Vista.
