I recently purchased a sirocco. I have windows vista and I have successfully downloaded the files to my pc to update the firmware on the unit. When I hold the reset button on the unit the light turns green but a steady green - not flashing. When I plug in the LAN cable from my pc to the unit the LAN light on the unit comes on. When I start my web browser it does not connect with the unit. I entered the link listed in the readme file that comes with the firmware download.
Please help, if you can.
Thanks,
Bryan
Addendum: I tried connecting to my old pc running windows xp as well. I connected the LAN cable, inserted the cd that came with the unit but failed to connect. Again, I still cannot get the reset light to flash. It just stays solid green.

If you're getting an error
If you're getting an error message in Vista when running the installer, it sounds like you want to disable Vista's UAC "feature" while installing the driver. If you're not sure what UAC is, just google "how to disable UAC" and there will be several tutorials. You can re-enable it when the installation is done.
Still not working
Aaron,
Thanks for the advice. Unfortunately, I am still not having any luck.
I tried loading the software from the disk onto my Vista pc and got an error message during the installation. It happened again when I repeated the installation. Then I decided to install the software on my old pc running windows XP. The software installed properly. When I connect the LAN (without intervening router) and ran the setup wizard the pc could not connect to the unit. My firewall is off. I tried this again after pressing the reset button on the sirocco but again, no connection. I know that I am typing in the correct address. Also, the reset light does not stay on anymore. When I hold the button for about ten seconds it will start to flash but the reset light turns off when I let go. This is a change. Before the light would stay lit without flashing.
Please help if you can.
Thanks,
Bryan
Hi Bryan, First things to
Hi Bryan,
First things to double check are that the Sirocco is wired directly to the PC (with no routers/hubs in between), and any security/firewall software you are running is shut down. Just to confirm, the address you are entering is http://192.168.1.254 right?
Another thing you may want to try installing the driver software first (before updating the firmware), despite the instructions. See if the Sirocco appears when running the Setup Wizard, and if it does, the firmware update will not be necessary.
