Using Internet and Sirocco simultaneously doesn't work

Setup: Windows XP Home with v2.1.0 driver and v1.0.0 firmware over a wireless network.

Situation: I can make the Sirocco work successfully over wireless, but when I do so the PC's Internet connection does not work: can't access web sites, etc.

This is apparently because, for some reason, when connected to the Sirocco the PC gets IP address 169.254.142.147 instead of the typical 192.168.1.xxx address that it gets through my wireless router's DHCP server.

When I disconnect from the wireless network then reconnect, the PC gets a good IP address and Internet connectivity, but then the Sirocco does not work. It does not show up in the Sirocco applet, no audio, etc. Then when I manually hook up the Ethernet cable, hit Connect in the Sirocco applet, audio works, but no Internet.

Is the Sirocco "taking over" the wireless network somehow?

Great, glad that helped!

Fixed?

Hey Aaron, I first tried changing from DHCP and setting the IP address manually with the default (x.x.x.254) and that had the same symptoms.

Then I tried another random IP address, x.x.x.234, and that seems to work: both the Sirocco and general Internet stuff work now.

Thanks for your tips.

I'd recommend setting the

I'd recommend setting the Sirocco's IP address manually (instead of using DHCP) to something outside of your wireless router's DHCP address pool. Let me know if that helps.

Not an IP address conflict...

Aaron, thanks for the reply.

I am pretty sure that it is not an IP address conflict. When I turn off the Sondigo and ping 192.168.1.254, there's no response. Also, looking at the wireless router's list of attached devices shows only the two PCs that I know are on the wireless network, both with non-conflicting addresses.

Any other thoughts or things to try? Thx.

Hi davidtr, The problem

Hi davidtr,
The problem could be that there is an IP address conflict on your network with the Sirocco. Unless the Sirocco gets an address from your network's DHCP server, it uses 192.168.1.254. You might want to make sure no other device is using this address, and that it's outside your router's DHCP address pool if you're using DHCP.
