No, you don't have to physically disconnect the Sirocco. It my work just by closing and re-opening your audio program after you disconnect.
If that doesn't help, it looks like your default output audio device is not switching automatically when you disconnect from the Sirocco. The Sirocco driver tries to do this by default, but it could be that there is other software on your PC that is preventing this from happening.
Go into the Windows Control Panel, and change your default output audio device to the one that corresponds to your headphones. Then open your audio program and audio should come from your headphones again.

Thanks for the response to my questions. Do I physically have to disconnect the sondigo inorder for the audio jack to work? Because, just disconnecting via the control panel does not allow the jack to work.

While the Sirocco is connected, you will not be able to play audio from your onboard audio device. To do that you'll need to disconnect the Sirocco, as Windows can only have one default audio device at a time.
