I got my Sirocco two days ago. It was working fine with two different computers. Then the next day, it wouldn't work with either. I am seeing two slightly different problems, depending on which computer I use. On one the Sirroco blue light comes on solid. I can see the music playing in the volume meters on the software control pannel, but the Buffer does NOT fill. I followed all the instructions on the forum regarding mixer settings. On the other computer the blue light blinks and the buffer fills, but there is still no sound. I have it set for digital output and am using the Toslink connection. Again, it worked fine on both computers for one day and then it just started having these problems on both machines.

solid blue light
When solid blue light is on, check to see if sound is muted on computer.
If computer is muted, blue light goes solid, and sound does not pass from computer to audio bridge (just like sound wouldn't pass to computer speakers if sound is muted).
Hi Steve, It sounds like the
Hi Steve,
It sounds like the Sirocco hardware is still working fine, but a software conflict has developed on the HP machine. The first thing to try is uninstalling the driver on that machine, rebooting, and then re-installing it. If that doesn't help, then we can investigate some other possibilities.

Same Problem as described in this Topic
We have three laptops. The IBM Thinkpad and Dell Latitude work great with the Sirocco. Our HP ZE4430US has to be rebooted several times and finally the buffer will fill and we know it will work because the buffer fills. I did not find any solution on the support forum for this problem. We are running the latest software and firmware for the pre-Vista version. We are running XP-Pro.
This laptop is not running any firewall software.

Using the wired ethernet
Using the wired ethernet makes no difference. I still got the solid blue light, with no buffer filling. The computer now seems unable to properly connect with the Scirocco about 90% of the time, but then sometimes it will work (maybe on an average of every 9th or 10th reboot).
I am using a netgear WGT634U
I am using a netgear WGT634U wireless router. That's great question about the ethernet- I never thought to try using a hardwire connection (other than for doing the setup). I'll try that and report back.
By the way, which router are
By the way, which router are you using? And do you have any problems with this machine if you wire the Sirocco directly to the PC with the Ethernet cable?
I don't think it has
I don't think it has anything to do with Norton Firewall. When I shut down, it makes no difference. This problem with the Sondigo driver is very frustrating becuse I see the device work great all the time with one computer. I also see it work on the affected machine about half the time. Again, very frustrating, because sometimes a reboot fixes it and sometimes it doesesn't. Even when it doesn't work, I can still see the blus audio light go on and off as I connect and disconnect. It just doesn't blink and the buffer on the control software never fills. Then, on another reboot, it will work fine. I really hope you have some new software or firmware that will help this soon.
Sounds good. Let me know if
Sounds good. Let me know if turning off the firewall helps. There may be some mis-configured permissions in Norton that are causing the problems. I think this is the most likely culprit.
The machine not having the
The machine not having the problems with the Sirocco is not running any firewall software. Norton Firewall is running on the machine having the intermittant problems. The fireware software is always running, while the Sondigo only experiances problems about 20% of the time- so I thought that it was not Firewall related. I will however disable Norton Internet Security (which includes Norton Firewall) and see if that makes any difference.
Is Norton Firewall running
Is Norton Firewall running on the PC that is working fine, or the problematic one (or both)?
We are working on a software update for Sirocco, but we don't have a definite date for when it will be available.
Will the be any driver update?
Will there be any updated drivers coming soon that may be more stabile?
I am running Norton Internet
I am running Norton Internet Security- which includes Norton Firewall. However this software is always running and the Sirocco software freqently runs well on the machine.
This is definitely a
This is definitely a software configuration problem on that machine, then. Do you have any firewalls running on your system? We had someone else with a very similar problem, which was fixed when his nVidia firewall was disabled.
Still happening....
I can now confirm that this is an ongoing but intermittent issue. It seems to me to be some kind of software glitch or driver conflict causing it. It was not the first re-start and I have since found that when I get this problem, retarting sometimes fixes it and sometimes doesn't. I haven't been able to figure out what is different when it does or doesn't work. I have the software installed on another computer where I never see this problem.
Weird
Hmm, that is strange. Was it your first re-start after installing the driver?
Problem resolved
I swear I tried this before with no sucess- but a reboot just solved the problem. Hopefully it will not reoccur.
Hi, Thanks for the reply.
Hi,
Thanks for the reply. As I mentioned before- I already went into the mixer settings and turned everything up (I also made sure mute was noy on). I can also see the music making all the little volume meters go up and down.
Hi rarich, If Sirocco is
Hi rarich,
If Sirocco is working from one PC and not from another, it definitely sounds like a software (or possibly networking) problem.
About the solid blue light: This can happen when your audio is muted or your Wave volume is low in the mixer. To fix this, open the Sirocco Control Panel and click on the "Mixer" tab. Underneath the big rotary knob is a small button. Press this so that it lights up, and make sure both the volume and Wave controls are not set to minimum. The Audio light should begin blinking, and you should now be able to hear audio from the Sirocco.
You can give the above a try and see if it helps.
OK, I've narrowed it down.
OK, I've narrowed it down. There appears to be two seperate problems. First, either the optical input on my stereo or the Toslink cable has a problem (since it still wouldn't play when I moved the cable to a dfferent sound source). The Sirroco sounds fine from one computer when I use the headphone output on the Sirocco. So, the problem is in the software on the other computer. Again, I get a solid blue light on the Sirroco, and the buffer soes not fill on the software panel even though I see the sound meters moving.
