This is a basic reference for those looking to update the driver and/or firmware for the Sirocco. If you're looking to move to Windows Vista or just improve performance in Windows XP, please read this before you proceed with the installation.
Available Drivers
There are currently two types of drivers for the Sirocco. The first is the original driver that comes on the Sirocco CD, available in the download below. This driver is the only one that uses the Sirocco's first-generation streaming protocol, and will only work with version 1.10.0.10 of the firmware (included on the device by default).
All subsequent drivers use the second generation of Sirocco's streaming protocol. As a result, these drivers and their firmware are incompatible with the original driver. This means that if you update a driver to the new protocol, the firmware must also be updated.

Moving to Windows Vista
Only the newer, "version 2" drivers are compatible with Windows Vista. If you have purchased a Sirocco for use with Vista, you will need to download the new driver and firmware. Once you have downloaded and unzipped the package, follow the steps in the README.rtf file to install the firmware and driver.

Drivers for Windows XP
If you are setting up a new Sirocco Wireless Audio Bridge for Windows XP, we recommend the original, version 1 driver. The Sirocco comes ready to work with it from the factory, and the installation process is straightforward. There are no firmware updates required with this driver, just run setup.exe and follow the on-screen instructions.
If you are running Windows XP and everything is working well, there is no reason to upgrade. There are no additional features in the newer Sirocco drivers, and there is some risk in performing the upgrade, due to the firmware flashing process.
If, due to some conflict on your PC, you still want to try the version 2 driver/firmware in Windows XP, the preferred upgrade process is slightly different from the Vista install procedure. Although those instructions will still work, it is easier to proceed as follows:
- Connect the Sirocco directly to the PC with an Ethernet cable
- Open up the Sirocco Setup Wizard, and select "Update Firmware" in Step 1.
- With the "Browse..." button, select the firmware file came with the version 2 driver package
- Wait for the firmware update to complete
- Uninstall the Sirocco driver that you have running, and install the new version 2 driver in its place
- As part of the driver installation, run through the new Sirocco Setup Wizard to configure your Sirocco
