Setting up the Sirocco on a wired network

Generally, you can plug the Sirocco in on your wired network, and it will work immediately. However, sometimes people run into conflicts and need to configure a wired-only setup. This quick guide will allow you to do just that.

Note: If you wish to change the Sirocco's device name and also use it wired, you will want to first run the Sirocco setup wizard and change the name. To get through the wizard, you'll need to have an available wireless network for you to connect to.

  1. Restart the Sirocco by holding down the recessed Reset button for 10 seconds (it should begin to flash)
  2. Connect the Sirocco directly to your PC with an Ethernet cable
  3. Pull up your web browser (Firefox, Internet Explorer, etc), and into the address bar enter 192.168.1.254. This should bring up a web administration page.
  4. Now click on the "Wireless" link on the left, and then click on "Basic Settings"
  5. Disable the Sirocco's wireless antenna by checking the "Disable Wireless LAN Interface" box, and clicking "Apply Changes".
  6. Click on the "TCP/IP Settings" link on the left
  7. Setup the DHCP and IP options to work on your network. If you're not sure what to choose, set DHCP to "Client", and that will likely work well. Click "Apply Changes" and exit the web utility.
